If you’re at the originating site with a patient and an Eko device, you can start a live stream so that a distant site provider can listen remotely. This is typically used where there is a cart or Eko endpoint that multiple people use at the originating site where the patient, and Eko device, is located.
Here’s the general process after signing into the Eko App:
- Connect the Eko device with the Eko App
- Start an Encounter
- Live stream and record
- Share the live stream
- Distant provider listens to the live stream either with the link or with the Eko Dashboard.
Here is a video walkthrough of the process as well.
This guide coves the one-time configuration of your app settings and the everyday workflow for pairing, capturing, streaming, and sharing with your Eko device.
One-Time App Setting Setup
Configure these optional settings once to streamline your workflows
- Access App Settings: Navigate to the App settings menu.
- Streamline Device Connections:
- Toggle on Auto-connect last device to automatically connect to your most recently used stethoscope.
- Toggle on Autostart an encounter to automatically launch a new session whenever a known device connects. - Set Up Upfront Assignment: Turn on Assign patient upfront if you want to assign a patient at the very beginning of each new encounter.
-
Configure Recording Preferences:
- Toggle on Record automatically to begin recording the moment a good signal is detected.
- Adjust the Recording length to your desired duration (e.g., 15 seconds). -
Adjust ECG Filters: If your device supports ECG, manage your ECG mains filter (e.g., 60 Hz) at the bottom of this screen.
1. Connect the Device
- Navigate to the Encounters tab
- Tap the green Connect Device button to pair your stethoscope over Bluetooth
2. Start an Encounter
- Once your stethoscope is connected, tap New Encounter to open a fresh session.
3. Live Stream & Record
- Once the session is open, Live Stream users will land on the default Freeform tab screen.
- View the live running waveform and BPM directly on the screen.
- Tap Record to capture audio/ECG data.
4. Share the Stream
- Tap the Share Link button on the active stream screen.
- Select a device option to send the invitation, or tap Copy to copy the URL (app.ekodevices.com) directly into your preferred messaging tool.
- A live stream link for a site or clinician is always the same URL. It can be shared with many different people, who can save the link and navigate to it anytime they want to listen to the live stream. It can also be reset when needed by your Institution Admin or Program Admin.
5. Distant provider listens to live stream
If the distant provider listens anonymously with the link, this is what they’ll see:
If the distant provider has an Eko account and is signed into the Eko Dashboard, they can either listen with the link you sent, or they can navigate to your site’s live stream from the Dashboard.
